as i mentioned we have not just a new two-year session, but a real historical moment in sacramento with two-thirds democrats, as well as a democratic governor. it's an opportunity that the majority party is mindful of not squandering and with regards to initiatives that we'll see this year, i think the vlf is something that is being talked about as another opportunity for transportation funding at the state level, something that previous administrations have not wanted to look at in terms of bringing that state vehicle license fee back up to historical levels. if that happens, i think we in san francisco have to be mindful that we uniquely already have that authority and to the extent that the state chooses to embrace that authority, where do we stand? since conversations are underway in san francisco about how to spend our own vlf, i think we need to take a strategic, somewhat defensive position to make sure that we don't lose that to the state's interest, valid as it is, to invest at the state level. the governor released his budget, which most of you know, just recently. it's pr

"assessor's block" is perhaps could be three-block faces as in this case. and it's used multiple times in the public works code. amid the block face where the star is. and all of these businesses did not receive notice. so dpw testified a couple of months ago that 101 2nd street is within a 300' radius. i want to ask dpw did anyone at 101 2nd street receive notice? if they did not, notice was not served properly. the second point is the 300' radius. the ordinance use the word "radius." the order itself says there are no like foods within a 300' radius. radius is the proper measurement and dpw is going to get up here and say oh, no, we're going use walking distance and we can't determine what a 300' radius, w

at school. he was a victim of bullying in sacramento, california. these kinds of summits are interesting it me because i'm boots on the ground. i am in the trenches every single day and i live in sacramento so i'm at the capitol and we use the word bullying which softens the behavior. this is abuse. it is peer abuse. and our children are crying for help. and the adults who are charged with their well-being turn a blind and deaf ear to it and here's my comment. there are no consequences for failure to comply. nothing with teeth. and i have a dead child who broke under horrendous circumstances where in one of the best schools in sacramento, meraloma, breaks every record going. it is the best. and my son was perceived to be gay and the idea that you could scream out every horrendous word in front of god and everyone and no one did anything, and michael followed policy to a t tomorrow is his birthday. i should be celebrating his 21st birthday. instead, my husband and i, we mourn 4 years. we are no further along. none of our laws, they are not working. this is great. but as a par

valley and the national weather center for sacramento has issued a dense fog advisory for the delta and sacramento. by fairfield, further east, you may run into dense fog out there, so be careful. 50 at half moon bay, low 50's at los gatos and upper 50's in santa cruz and 50's in watsonville. the visibility is not great in livermore or santa rosa but improving in napa. novato is up to ten miles. you are half a mile just an hour ago. you will see it is improving around the airport and hayward. san jose has clouds at eight miles visibility. with the cooler air and the trough that is swinging through, we had another system that went through earlier, and numbers are cooler especially at coast, nine degrees cooler this morning with five degrees cooler in livermore, so there is milder mornings are a thing of the past going tomorrow morning where it will be much, much cooler. areas of fog still this morning mainly in our east bay, turning cooler with breezy northwest winds along the shoreline and a cool dry pattern into next week as we begin february with no rain, at all, right on through
